This position will provide first level technical support to students and staff at a variety of schools. The primary functions are working on student computers in classrooms, labs and libraries. The College Tech provides LAN support and configures network resources (network printers, wireless access points, etc). Troubleshooting skills and above-average customer support skills are necessary to be successful.
COLLEGE TECH PROGRAM
The College Tech program is administrated by the Department of Technology Services of the Seattle School District. The College Tech position provides additional technical support to various schools. The program offers entry-level positions for students who have technical experience. These positions offer an opportunity to work in the education field and acquire first-hand technical skills through training and working closely with District Network Analysts.
Essential Functions:

Troubleshooting skills and above-average customer support skills are necessary to be successful.
Reporting Relationships:
College Techs are selected through an interview process by the individual schools. They are responsible to the principal and the site network analyst for work assignments and evaluation.
Level of Education:
Must be currently registered at an institution of higher learning. On-line courses of study qualify for this requirement.
Licenses:
Must have a valid Washington State Drivers License
A+ Certification is recommended
Work Week:
College Techs are limited to working 19.5 hours a week during the school calendar. During the summer months there is an opportunity for full-time work on special projects. Each school decides on the number of hours they can fund for the school year. Flexible schedules to accommodate student schedules are negotiated with the principal. The minimum number of hours worked is 10 per week.. Sometimes this minimum is met by working at two or more sites.
Salary:
Beginning salary is $14.21 an hour. No employee benefits are available. There are yearly raises effective 9/1/12.
